Jack Brooks, 80, of DeSoto, Texas passed away December 28, 2012 in Dallas, Texas. He was born February 8, 1932 in Maypearl, Texas to Ernest and May V. (Turner) Brooks.

As a young child, he moved to Hill County and grew up in the Union Bluff area. He graduated from Hillsboro High School. In 1952, he entered the U.S. Army and served as an M.P. in Korea where he supervised POWs.

On February 7, 1953 Jack married Dorothy Mandell in Hillsboro and following his military service, the couple settled in Dallas. For a number of years, he worked for several aircraft manufacturers before joining American National Insurance, where he was an agent for 32 years, retiring in 1987.

Jack loved to spend time on his farm near Hillsboro raising cattle and playing his guitar. He was a member of Oak Cliff Christian Church in Dallas.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Brooks, brother, Billy Gene Brooks, sister, Gennie V. Wadle, nephews and nieces and many other family members.

Funeral services will be held December 31, 2012 in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro...M_M
