Lillie Jean Essl, 63 of Gold Beach, Died June 23, 2006 at Curry General Hospital in Gold Beach of natural causes.

She was born Sept 4, 1942 in Steubenville, Ohio to Charles Rogers and Wilma Wellcome.

Ms. Essl raised her family while working as a bartender in California in the San Fernando Valley, After moving to Gold Beach in 1985, she worked in the motel business.

Lillie loved to play bingo. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and attended the Veters of Foreign Wars (VFW) hall in Gold Beach every Wednesday and Friday, She was also know for her quilt-making and enjoyment of jigsaw puzzles. Most of all she was a person you always knew would be home, someone you could count on to be there, her family said.

Survivors include her sons Joey D Rogers, Paul Essl, Larry Holland and Daughter Christina (Ruben) Mercado, Her life companion Orion Darrah and his brother Eugene Darrah, also surviving are seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Jimmy Hunter, Granddaughter Kayla Essl, Step-Grandson Rudy Mercado, Darrah;s sister Helen Darrah and her sons Michael, David, and Kevin Darrah

A private memorial service and a scattering of her ashes will be at a later date, her ashes along with those of her son Joey will be buried at Smyrna Cemetery

In lieu of flowers the family requests memrial contributions be made in her name to the Curry County Animal Shelter or the American Diabetes Association.

Assangements are in the care of Redwood Memorial Chapel, Brookings
