Grady Hamby was a self employed carpenter and mountain stone mason. He and his brother Velvin rocked many notable places and residential homes in the area. Their skilled work included Emerald Hodgson Hospitol in Sewanee , Tn and Skymont Boy Scout reservation locate near Altamont Tennessee. He and his brother also rebuilt the covered pavilion that stands in the cemetery today. He served as alderman for the Town of Monteagle for several years. An honest hard working man who was friend to everyone he knew, a very good father, brother and husband. His ice blue eye color was a heredary color passed through the Hamby men generations. As his last wish was granted, he was given a special funeral procession of being taken to his final resting place by buck board drawn by two draft horses, whose name was Luke And John,. He said there was peace in the trip trap of the hooves. A life well lived and a life where he was well loved.
