Obituary Chillicothe Constitution Tribune March, 23, 2001

Richard W. Adkins, 83, died Thursday, March 22, 2001 at his home in Chillicothe. He was born June 19, 1917 in Wakenda, Mo., the son of Andy H. and Louise Lasser Adkins. On Sept. 15, 1969, he married Doris Searcy in Chillicothe. She survives of the home. Mr. Adkins was a carpenter. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Survivors also include three daughters, Janet Sanbothe of Warsaw, Mo., and Shirley Goff and Nancy Hicks, both of Chillicothe; a stepdaughter, Vicki Buckner of Chillicothe; a stepson, William Bradley of Independence; and a sister, Ruby Nolan of Chillicothe. There was a cremation. Memorial graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe. Friends may call from 8 until 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. There is no scheduled family visitation. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Vern R. Glick Post No. 25, The American Legion, which may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the Lindley Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
