Born Lida Elizabeth Weatherwax on 4 December, 1909 in Jackson, Madison Co., TN, she was the eldest daughter of Henry Andrew and Lena Thompson (Nelson) Weatherwax. She chose to spell her first name as Lyda and was also called "Aunt Lyde" by the family. She was married three times, but never had any children. Her first husband was Harvey Weiss, the second was William Scurto and the third was Emanuel Wohlberg. Aunt Lyda died of metastisized colon cancer and lies buried in the plot next to her baby brother, John Henry Weatherwax. Despite the fact that she was a beautiful woman and very family-oriented, all three of Lyda's marriages ended in divorce. She either worked in or owned restaurants all of her working life. She was known for her great kindness and generosity to her nieces and nephews. Sorely missed by those of us who loved and appreciated her. Rest in peace, Aunt Lyde.
