Rock Falls, Dec 31, 1946- The funeral of Martin H. Portner, 68, who passed away at his home in Shore Acres, east of Rock Falls, early Monday morning, will be held at the Wheelock Funeral home here at 2:00pm Thursday afternoon. The Rev. Wayne Leighty, pastor of the Methodist Church and the Rev. Harry E. Shiffer, pastor of the Christian Church will officiate and burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here.
Mr. Portner, son of Mr & Mrs Jacob D. Portner, was born May 24, 1883 in Pine Creek Township, Ogle County, where he was reared. He came to Rock Falls as a young man and has lived here since. He married Imogene Little of Rock Falls on April 19, 1906. He was employed in local industries, R.B. & W. Co. & International Harvester, for 40 years.

Survivors are his widow and two sons, Harold of Shore Acres and Carl of Galt. Also surviving are for brothers, Ray Portner of Dixon, J.L. Portner of Sterling, Grover Portner, Aurora, Oliver Portner of Grand De Tour, and three sisters, Mrs. Claude Musgrave, Sterling, Mrs. Walter B. (Joe) Houston, of Grand De Tour and Mrs Cyrus Toms of Ogle County. A half-sister, Mrs. Paul Rodemacher of Clinton, IA also survives.
