Rene A. Cadieux, 63, who has owned and operated Cadieux Bakery in Massena 40 years, died unexpectedly at 6:30 o'clock Saturday night, May 6, 1967. He was stricken while waiting on a customer at the bakery. Taken to Massena Memorial Hospital by the rescue squad, he was declared dead on arrival.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Blanche Tourangeau Cadieux; on daughter, Mrs. Frederick (Ruth) Nagle, Canton; three grandchildren, Richard, Patricia and Mariann Nagle, Canton; two brothers, Fortunat Cadieux, Three Rivers, Quebec; and Raoul Cadieux, Ste. Adele, Quebec; three sisters, Miss Marie Cadieux and Miss Simmone Cadieux, both of Ottawa, and Mrs. Adrienne Lanthier, Alexandria, Ontario.

Mr. Cadieux was born May 30, 1903 in L'Orignal, Ontario, a son of Philippe And Maria Guenette Cadieux. He attended schools there, and learned the trade of baker from his father.

He married Miss Blanche Tourangeau, Alfred, Ontario August 25, 1925. They moved to Massena two years later and Mr. Cadieux opened his bakery at 235 Center Street. Two or three years later, the bakery was moved to 196 Center Street where it has since been located.

Mr. Cadieux was an artist in decorating cakes for special occasions. For years the Cadieux Bakery has been the only commercial bakery in Massena.
