On Sept 19, 1944, he was married to Alma Koeser, He farmed in the Town of Plymouth and later went to work for the Kohler Company, where he was employed until retiring Feb 4, 1977.

On July 21, 1973, he was married to Olive Triphan Steinke. the couple lived in the Town of Greenbush until 1990, when they moved to Plymouth.
He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth. Edward loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman.
Surviors include his wife, Olive, one daughter, Sandra (Ronald) Jochman, three sons, Edward (Darla) Jr, Rickey (Pam) of Anderson, CA and Lyle of Sheboygan Falls, two step sons, Richard (Margaret) Steinke and Steven Steinke, three step daughters Judy Keinhofer, Janice (Mark) Simmons, Barbara (Gene) Fiedler, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, one step great daughter, one brother Melvin (Angie), and two sisters, Mrs Iris Sacher, Irene (Eldor) Sass. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert and one step son, Jerry Steinke.
