James Harold Doolittle Garretson, 70, of Tribbey, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 at his home.

He was born May 28, 1942 to Mason Merrick and Ressie (Klinglesmith) Garretson in Tribbey, Oklahoma.

James was raised in Tribbey and attended Tribbey Public Schools. He was a 1961 graduate of Tribbey High School. James was a lifelong resident of Tribbey.

He married Linda Thomson in April 1966 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

He was a retired Shawnee Firefighter and retired from OBU.

James was a member of Macomb Masonic Lodge #310 and a member of the 32nd degree Scottish Rite Consistory of McAlister. He served on the Board of Directors for Macomb Senior Citizens and was President and caretaker of the Tribbey Cemetery Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mason and Ressie Garretson; son, James Garretson, Jr.; 3 brothers, Connie Mac Garretson, Frank Garretson and his twin brother, Douglas Garretson; sister, Janice Haynes; sister-in-law, Imogene Garretson; 2 brothers-in-law, Don Farris and Ray Haynes; 2 nephews, Merrick Hobbs and Steven Hobbs; mother-in-law, Ruby Thompson and father-in-law, Marvell Thompson.

James is survived by his wife, Linda Garretson, of the home; son, Connie Mack Garretson; 2 grandsons, Gunner Ryan Garretson and James Dillon Garretson; 3 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Alice Farris, of Noble, Marcia and Dale Haynes, of Lexington and Wilma and Bub Hobbs, of Wanette; 2 brothers and sister-in-law, Bill Garretson, of Moore and Charlie and Beth Garretson, of Tribbey; 2 sisters-in-law, Linda Garretson and Barbara Garretson; 4 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Morris and Carleta Thompson, of Tecumseh, Jerry and Nickie Nelson, of Maud, Jolene and Max Hunt, of Tecumseh, and Debbie and Randy Briggs, of Tecumseh; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jim Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Moral Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
