Daughter of Simon and Hester (DELAMATER) VanNess. Despite Wesley Vandercook's best efforts to prove otherwise, she was definitely not a descendant of Anneke Jans and Rev. Everardus Bogardus! She was the first wife of Michael VanDerCook and the mother of his ten children. Sadly, a burial marker no longer exists for her. She is thought to have died at some point beteen 1770 and 1775. According to the research notes of another VanDerCook family historian, Cornelia's footstone could be seen until fairly recently, but it has since disappeared. Based on that information, we are fairly sure that Cornelia lies buried next to her husband. Michael's second wife, as named in his will, was Sarah RUNNELS or REYNOLDS, who appears to have survived him and may have remarried.
