Charles P. Compton, 79, of Nampa died Wednesday evening after a short illness. Mr. Compton was born March 26, 1881, in Missouri and in Fordland, Mo., Dec. 13, 1908, he married Martha J. Hill. They resided at Rogersville, Mo., and then lived at Cedaredge, Colo., for three years, before returning to Rogersville. They came to Nampa in 1937 and Mr. Compton farmed until his retirement two years ago. Mr Compton was a former member of the IOOF Lodge and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Nampa.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of Nampa, include three daughters, Mrs. Charles Dalton and Mrs. Ira Dalton both of Nampa, and Mrs. Eugene DeWitt of Caldwell; a son, Leonard Compton of Bonneville, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Alice Barton of Springfield, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
