Rebecca Marie Hein peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 30th, 2012, at her home in Manitowoc with her family at her side.
Becky was born to Victor and Corinne (Stiver) Orcelletto in Merrill, Wisconsin on January 21, 1950. A few years after, she would move to Tomahawk, a place that would always be dear to her heart. Growing up in the north woods of Wisconsin with six brothers and sisters was certainly not dull, and it was in that early part of Becky's life that she developed the many wonderful qualities that people admired in her throughout her life, namely her kindness, sense of humor, strength, generosity, determination, and compassion. Becky's childhood also left her with an endless supply of stories that were a source of great amusement to her family and friends… as much because of Becky's talent for storytelling as the stories themselves.
After graduating from Tomahawk High School in 1968, Becky went on to the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. She graduated in 1972 with a degree in Special Education.
Becky spent the next 35 years teaching in the Manitowoc Public School District; first teaching art at Riverview School, and later teaching students with severe/profound cognitive dysfunction at Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Becky's endless patience, compassion, and dedication contributed to her success as a teacher. She cared very deeply for her students, remembering them even decades after they'd left school.
Becky often said to friends and family one of the things she wanted most in the world was to be a mother. She was able to realize this dream, and was an incredible mother (as well as friend, teacher, and role model) to her three children.
Though Becky devoted much of her time to her family and career, she still found time to pursue a variety of interests. She enjoyed gardening, reading, bird-watching, photography, traveling, knitting, music, and baking. She was a baseball fan, and always faithfully (though often futilely) cheered on the Milwaukee Brewers.
Becky was very spiritual, and was an active member of the St James Episcopal Church. In addition to maintaining her own strong faith, Becky also had an interest in all world religions, a subject that she studied extensively.
Becky is survived by her children: Rachelle, Nicole, and Christopher Hein, siblings: Jerry Orcelletto, Mark Orcelletto, Rita Orcelletto, Rhonda (Bill) Jochmann, Roxanne (Mike) Schoone, and Joe (Linda) Orcelletto; family friend and "spare" daughter: Dottie Woodkey; dear friends: Bonnie and Kerry Sievert, nine nieces and nephews, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and four "grand dogs".
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at St. James Episcopal Church, 434 N. 8th St. Manitowoc. The Rev. Diane Murray will officiate with cremation haven taken place. The Reinbold and Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the Hein family with funeral arrangements.
