Oliver J. Atwood Taken in death

Oliver James Atwood, 62, who resided at Backus and Tropico Road, passed away June 10, 1961 at Mojave Medical Center from a heart attack. A veteran of World War I, he had been a resident of the state 26 years, four of which were spent in Kern County.
Atwood was born August 30, l898 in Ada, Oklahoma and was retired. His wife Alice B., who survives him, taught school in Rosamond.
Other survivors are three sons, John O. of Independence; Fred, serving in the U.S.N. and Robert of Anderson, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Stanski of Evans, Colo., and Mrs. Marion Vetere of Denver, Colo.; also four sisters and two brothers.
Services were held at Turner s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 14 at 10 a.m. with Norman Nelson of Rosamond officiating.
Interment was in Mojave Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home taking charge of the arrangements.
