Born Oct.15, 1942 in Westfield, the son of the late Roy and Ruth (Spicer) Archer. A Westfield area resident most of his life, he lived for a short time in Ripley.
He attended Westfield Academy and Central School and had been employed by Ralph Spicer Fisheries. Employed by Westfield Disposal for several years, he had also been a grape farmer, working for Schultz Vineyard, Vilardo Vineyards and Sinden Vineyard, as well as Johnson Winery. Most recently he was employed by the Waters of Westfield as a linen driver.
As a Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan, he enjoyed NASCAR and was also a fan of the New York Yankees. His hobbies included hunting and fishing and he attended the West Portland Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on cars at the Stateline Speedway and was a member of the JW Dill Post 434 American Legion of Brocton.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Emery) Archer of Westfield, whom he married July 26, 1975; one daughter, Michelle Logan of Brocton; one son, Ralph E. Archer Jr. of Westfield; three grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte Black of Brocton; and one brother, Richard Archer of Ripley. He was predeceased by his parents.
