Dorothy Mae Raasch was born on November 24, 1919 to Harry and Lil (Harbaugh) Martinson in Randall, MN and moved to Arlington, SD as an infant. She graduated from Volga High School in 1936. She attended Eastern Normal School in Madison, SD and taught school in the Vienna-Lake Norden area.
After her marriage to Vern Raasch on June 8, 1942 at Volga, SD they purchased a farm northwest of Castlewood. She had worked with the Green Thumb program for several years while living on the farm. Vern passed away in April of 1986 and Dorothy moved to Watertown in 2000 to the Golden Living Center.
Dorothy enjoyed flowers and gardening, going on long walks, picnicking, photography and bird watching.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, several grandchildren, three sisters, and two brothers.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Ronnie (Mary) Raasch of Watertown and Jerry (Ardys) Raasch of Castlewood; her sister-in-law, Joy (Louis) Boersma of Watertown; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
