Rueben Christianson, of Dawson, died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 96.

Funeral service: Friday, May 4, at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Pastor Kendall Stelter , Pastor Blair Anderson and Pastor Eric Hullstrom officiating. Dean Pearson, accompanied on piano by wife, Joyce, sang "On Eagle's Wings" and organist, Deb Lewis accompanied the congregation in singing "O Day Full of Grace" and "My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less". Dennis Andeson, Burdette Faehn, Bob Lee, Dr. Phil Maus, Vern Silvernale, Del Thielke, and Virgil Thompson were casketbearers and interment will be in the Dawson Cemetery.

Visitation: Thursday from 3-5:00 PM at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home and at the church for one hour before services on Friday.

Rueben C. Christianson was born September 27, 1915 in Dawson, MN the son of Richard and Hazel (Lusk) Christianson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Dawson. Rueben graduated from Dawson High School in 1936 and attended Minnesota School of Business. On June 2,1946, Rueben was united in marriage with Phyllis Hullstrom at the Riverside Lutheran Church in Dawson. Rueben served in the US Army during WW II where he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He received his funeral director license in 1949 and worked for Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home for 40 years. Rueben was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and he had served on the church council. He enjoyed playing golf in his younger years and he also enjoyed playing bridge with his friends.

He is survived by a brother-in-law, Wendell Anderson of Dawson; a sister-in-law, Irene Bremseth of Dawson; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Phyllis on May 27, 1998; and one brother.
