Leon was born the son of Harry & Selma (Ness) Amundson. He was Baptized on October 15, 1939 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Slayton. Lee graduated from the Fulda High School in 1957. He served in the US Army. He began his career by attending meat cutting school in Toledo, OH. He worked at Ittel's Meats in Howard Lake and the Red Owl stores in Westbrook, Mankato and St. James completing his career at LaSalle Meats in LaSalle. Lee enjoyed going to antique tractor pulls, playing the accordion, John Deere tractors and visiting with friends at coffee.

Leon in survived by his daughter, Jennie (Curt) Ratzlaff, son, Paul Amundson, grandchildren, Michael and Amanda Ratzlaff, sister-in-law, Delories Amundson, and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by an infant son, his sister, Jeanette Larson, brother, Harry Amundson, Jr., and brother-in-law, Norman Larson.

Leon passed away at the Madelia Community Hospital in Madelia at the age of 73.

Memorial services will be held December 8, 2012 at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James with Rev. Ken Bowman officiating.
