Survivors include his wife, Shirley O. Askew; four daughters, Evelyn Payton, Barbara Alexander, Rena Askew and Angela Askew, all of Norfolk; six sons, Alphonso Whaff, Billy Fenner, Clinton Langley, Herbert Askew, Alonzo Askew and Anthony Askew, all of Norfolk; five sisters, Lillian Deloatch, Gracie Askew and Evelyn Askew, all of Norfolk, and Louise Lassiter and Viola Woodward, both of Fredericksburg; a brother, Earl Morris of Virginia Beach; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; an aunt, Rosa Scoggins; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at noon Wednesday in Chapel Community Funeral Home by Bishop Anthony Moses. Burial will be in Jones Memorial Park.
