BUCKLIN - Douglas J. Schilling, 60, died Feb. 25, 2008, at his home, Bucklin.
He was born Sept. 29, 1947, in Dodge City, the son of Lloyd and Juanita Burton Schilling. A lifetime area resident, he was a designer for Burton Floral and worked at Baldwins Corner, both in Bucklin, and had also worked at the Dodge City Daily Globe and the Yukon Trading Post, Circle, Alaska.
He belonged to the First Presbyterian Church, Kingsdown.
Survivors include: a brother, Burton, Two Rivers, Alaska; and two sisters, Lynne Crabtree, Peoria, Ariz., and Kathy Merkley, Lubbock, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the First Presbyterian Church, Kingsdown, with the Rev. Orlando Jantz presiding. There will be no public visitation; cremation has taken place. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Prairie or the First Presbyterian Church, both in care of Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.

Doug was a very nice man, that'd give his shirt off his back to anyone. He was very sociable, and would visit with anyone. He was a family friend for years. Doug worked as a floral designer for several years, until the flower shop closed down in Bucklin. He helped take care of his aunt for several years, until her passing.

Doug sadly died of Emphysema.
