Benjamin Snow, 69, another of Ausable's old citizens, passed away Saturday morning after a long illness from heart disease. He had been ill for about two years with rheumatism and heart disease, but was not confined to his bed until five weeks ago.
Ben was born to John and Betsey Snow in Essex, N.Y. in 1832. He was employed as a bloomer for the J&J Rogers' Iron Works for over 40 years. Ben owned a small farm in Ausable.
Ben leaves behind his wife Ruth (Curtis) Snow, four sons, Edwin Curtis, Benjamin Jr., James Mortimer, Joel Hobart, and two daughters, Nellie and Emily Jane, and a son, Fred from his first marriage.
He was predeceased by his first wife Betsey (Baker) Snow.
Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Episcopal church of which he had been a member for about 30 years and a trustee. The services will be conducted by the Tahawus Lodge, No 530 F. & A.M. Internment will be in the family plot in Fairview cemetery.

Note: According to my father, his great-grandfather Ben had a Snow family bible, which great-grandmother Ruth had in her possession while she was alive. She did not pass it on to Edwin, but it went to one of his brothers after she died. My father remembers that it was very old, and there were many pages filled with Snows.
