Son of Wilbur Simpson and Hattie Belle Coleman White, husband of Betty Lou Herring.


MARION — Mr. Douglas Carlyle White, 73, died Thursday, October 20, 2005, at his home after an illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, at Marion First United Methodist Church, burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.


Mr. White was born in Marion, a son of the late Wilbur Simpson White and Hattie Coleman White.


He was a farmer and had retired from Royster-Clark Fertilizer Co. in Florence, where he worked as Warehouse Distribution Manager. Mr. White was a member of Marion First United Methodist Church, a past president of Marion County Farm Bureau and past chairman of Marion County ASCS Committee.


Mr. White is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Herring White of the home; a son, Dwayne C. White (Melanie) of Florence; a daughter, Belva White of Decatur, GA; three sisters, Carroll W. (Foxworth (Ernest) of Mullins, Joanne W. Wilcox (Roy) of Auburn, AL, Betty Atkinson (James) of Marion; and 2 grandchildren.
