Mrs. Rosa Hunt Westmoreland Lindsey, age 97, of 2 Three Mile Road, Rome, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2006, at a local health care facility.
Mrs. Lindsey was born in Cherokee County, Ala., on Jan. 18, 1909, daughter of the late John and Nora Tucker Hunt. She was of the Baptist faith. Prior to retirement, she worked for Celanese Corp. for a number of years.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lindsey was preceded in death by her first husband, William Clayton Westmoreland, by her second husband, Roy C. Lindsey, by a daughter, Mrs. Willie Mae Shepherd, by three sons, William Curtis Westmoreland, John Roy Westmoreland and Joe Van Westmoreland, by a sister, Mrs. Ellie Bishop, and by a brother, Lewis Hunt.
Survivors include a son, James Earl Westmoreland, of Rome, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held today at 1 p.m. EST in the family lot of Hebron Cemetery near Centre, Ala. The Rev. Donald Lindsey will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home today from 11 a.m. until noon. At other hours they may be contacted at each of their respective residence.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements.
