GEORGE VOLLMER, age 90, passed away January 4th at Tower Hill Healthcare in South Elgin. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 12 noon at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Vollmer is survived by his children: William (Marianne) and Donna (George) Donchenko; his grandchildren: David (Holly), Thomas (Jennifer), and Victor (Monica) Donchenko; his great grandchildren: Gwendolyn, Ronan, and Michelle, and his sister Ruth (the late Jack) Tedrahn. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy and his grandchild Anne Irene (nee Donchenko) Hoffner. (Findagrave Memorial No. 50803720)
Mr. Vollmer served in the U. S. Army in the South Pacific in World War II. He loved to golf. He loved card games and board games and especially Cribbage. He was an avid bowler and a member of the American Legion in Maywood.
