"July 13, 1916 - Mr. Tom Hubbard died last Sunday at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Oscar Jernigan. He had suffered with cancer of the face for a long time. Burial next to his wife at Campground, who died ten years ago. Thomas Lafayette Hubbard, third son of Wylie and Martha Ann (Jones) Hubbard, pioneer citizens from Giles county, Tennessee, was born June 1840 not far from where he now rests. He was reared there and married Miss Mary Ann Bright of the same community. To them were born nine children, three of whom have passed away, two of them being married daughters and a son. Beside two sons and four daughters, he leaves a brother who lives in South Mississippi, the only remaining of his family."
