Lloyd Vernon Newcomer was born 10 December 1918 in Chehalis, Lewis, Washington, the first son of George and Wilma Berkey Newcomer. He moved to Oregon with his family in 1925, and grew up in Marion County.
Lloyd served as a private in the US Army in WWII, and married Shirley Frances Merkel 27 June 1944, in Brigham City, Utah. Lloyd and Shirley had three children: Pat William, Cheryl Ann, and Rose Ann "Rosie". He died on 4 November, 1995, in Portland, Multnomah, Oregon, and was buried with a military service in Willamette National Cemetery.
