Kathleen E. Logar was born on March 24, 1951. She was a beautiful woman with long, flowing strawberry blond hair that everyone complimented her on. Kathy also adored Elvis Presley, going out every now and again to karaoke in the Denver metro area and neighbors often heard her playing her prized baby grand piano in her Northwest Denver home.

Kathy was a devoutly religious woman of the Catholic faith and her last job before she died was as a "prayer warrior" for the Denver based Marilyn Hickey Ministries. Kathy prayed with troubled people on the phone daily in her work and was just as kind to people she knew in her everyday life, often taking in those for Thanksgiving dinner and other holidays who did not have any place to go or were without family. Neighbors told the press that Kathy would bring colorful, thoughtful Easter baskets to their doors every Easter. Kathy embraced the love thy neighbor philosophy and actually lived it in a time and era where neighbors usually do not even speak to one another or even know their next door neighbors first names.

After 16 years Denverites and Kathleen's family and friends would love for the police to solve this cold case. Denver police suspect that 59 year old William Polhemus, a former love interest of Kathys had some connection to the horrible crime. Polhemus had long suffered with serious mental issues and had been involved in several criminal incidents in the Colorado area over the years. Some suspect that Kathy may have been too trusting and may have suffered the ultimate act of betrayal by having him in her life at the time of her murder.

Kathy who was such a decent person to friends and strangers alike ended up in the Denver cold case files when she was found murdered in her home in Northwest Denver on April 14, 2004. Sadly, the case is still "cold" in June of 2020.

This case is especially sad to me because we were friends. I met her in 1998 while working at a Catholic university in Denver and saw her daily until I left that job in 2000. I thought she was so kind, I used to visit her office and spend my lunch hour with her.

Update: Although William Polhemus still has not admitted to Kathy's murder he is locked away in prison for sexually assaulting and beating a woman in Colorado while on the run from Denver Police. He would be around 75 years old now.
