Vernon Joe Reinstra

Vernon Joe Reinstra died April 9, 2004 after a short battle with lung cancer.

Joe was born February 3, 1932. Joe graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1950 where he was an all-star athlete. He played semi-pro Baseball for the Bellingham Bells. Joe maried Nadine McCoy 52 years ago in Anacortes. They lived in La Conner before moving to Olympia where he worked for Dunlap Towing Company for 44 years, managing the Dunlap Towing Log Yard. In La Conner, Joe served as city councilman and Mayor. He also was a Little League and Babe Ruth coach for many years. Joe retired from the La Conner Volunteer Fire Department after 25 years. Joe and his wife Nadine resided in Burlington for the past eight years. Joe belonged to the Burlington Eagles, Burlington Lions Club and was a member of the Skagit Golf and Country Club. Golf was one of his passions, he shared with many friends and family. His other passion was traveling and fishing on the Columbia River with Nadine. He will be missed by many friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Verla Reinstra of Mount Vernon; brother Robert Reinstra of Anacortes; and his son Michael Reinstra of Olympia.

He is survived by his wife Nadine; daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Lance of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Brian and wife Megan , Heidi and husband Jason, Aaron and wife Jaime , all of Mount Vernon, and Kate and husband Pete of Everett; great grandchildren, Ashlyn,

Erick and Addison , Maya and Josie, sister and brother-in-law, Mike and Kathi of Sedro Woolley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen and Vesta and Jim and Roberta, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
