Following World War II, Mr. Holtzendorff became a YMCA professional and began his career in Spartanburg as Physical Director and then Executive Director of the Rock Hill YMCA. He also served in the Armed Services YMCA in Boston, and was on loan to the United Nations in the Gaza Strip, the Belgian Congo (Zaire), Ipswich, England, and returning to the Armed Forces YMCA in El Paso, Texas, and Norfolk, Va.
In 1976, Mr. Holtzendorff became Executive Director of Easley YMCA, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Easley Presbyterian Church, where he served as Trustee, Elder and Sunday School Teacher, and was a former member of the Pulpit Nominating Committee, and also was honored by being elected Elder Emeritus.
