Services for A.J. Thompson, 86, of Tyler are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Lloyd James Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is in Cathedral in the Pines under direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.

Mr. Thompson passed away on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, in Tyler.

He was born on Feb. 25, 1926, in Canton to the late Arthur Erastus and Ruth Goss Thompson. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Cross Brand Cowboy Church and was formerly employed by the Texas State Health Department.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pam Thompson.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marcelene M. Thompson of Tyler; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Robin Williamson of Tyler; granddaughter, Hollie Holquin of Tucson, Ariz.; three great-grandsons; two brothers, Marlin Thompson of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Harvey Thompson of Houston. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
