Services for Johnny Abare, 87, of Slaton will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Word Aflame Church in Slaton with the Rev. James Davenport officiating.

Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton under the direction of White Funeral Home of Lubbock.

He died Friday July 5, 2002.

He was born July 3, 1915, in Clovis, N.M. He attended Dickens schools and was a lifelong resident of Slaton. He married Betty June Stinnett Jan. 1, 1985, in Slaton. He was a certified electrician and a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Slaton.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jimmy Wayne Oldham of Dexter, Mo., and James Wright Jr. of Lubbock; three daughters, Ann Graggs of Ceries, Calif., Betty Ann Wright of Lubbock and Mary Katherine Hawley of Lamesa; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
