Vera Etoyle Abston, age 87, of Florence, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Annex after a brief illness. She was a native of Wayne County, Tenn., a member of Jacksonburg Church of Christ and a retired cafeteria worker from Mars Hill Bible School.Visitation was 5-9 p.m. Friday at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be today at 11 a.m. at Jacksonburg Church of Christ, with burial to follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating at the service will be Jack Wilhelm and Gary Gooch. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Abston Sr.; parents, O.A. and Lera Danley; sister, Thelma Danley; and brothers, Everett, Earl and O.A. Danley Jr.She is survived by her sons, Dan Abston of Orange Beach, Ala., Roy Abston Jr. and Steve Abston, both of Florence; brothers, Roy Danley of Carthage, Tenn. and Claude Danley of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sisters, Stella Masterson of Florence; grandchildren, Moc, Phil, Les, Tyler and Andy Abston and Dannie Deffenbaugh; and great-grandchildren, Kristin and Jenna Deffenbaugh, Evan, Ethan and Eli Abston.Pallbearers will be her grandsons.Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Butler, Edward M. Behel Jr., Jack Cabler, Ken Cabler, David Willingham, David Williams, Jerry Masterson, Larry Danley Jr. and Sonny Barr.Special thanks to employees of Columbia Cottage, Mitchell-Hollingsworth employees on station six and to special friend, Wendy Clifton.Greenview Funeral Home of Florence is directing..
