Kert was born in Kimball SD, on January 22, 1941. He was the Captain of the 101st Airborne Division parachute team at Fort Campbell. KY, and was killed while practicing for an Armed Forces Day parachute demonstration in Bynum, AL. Kert was married to Leanne, was the father of Scott, and the adoptive father of Deborah and Michael. He was also survived by his parents Karl and Pearl Eckstein and Grace and J.D. Myers as well as sisters Kay and Marium and brothers Richard and Larry. He served in the US Army for over 18 years at the time of his death. Kert was an experienced skydiver with roughly 3000 parachute jumps, and was also a military parachute rigger, an FAA parachute rigger, and a private pilot who loved the sky. He now has 11 grandchildren.
