Jeffrey Lynn Lansdowne, 31, 3134 Belmont, was fatally injured in a one vehicle accident about 2 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 1991, on U.S. 160 about four miles east of Cherokee. He was returning to Parsons from Pittsburg when the accident occurred.
He was born October 21, 1959, in Parsons to Sharon (Lansdowne) Vincent. He was reared by his grandparents, James and Reola Lansdowne of Parsons, who adopted him.
He grew up and attended schools in Parsons, graduating from Parsons High School in 1978. He loved music and participated in the Parsons High School Band.
During his youth he was involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and enjoyed roller skating. He helped coach a girls softball team in the church league ball program. He attended the Church of the Open Bible.
Following High School he served two years in the U.S. Air Force. Following Honorable discharge he returned to Parsons and was employed for a short time by the City of Parsons and then for several years at Sherwood Cabinet Company. In the beginning of this year he began employment with Day and Zimmerman contract operator of the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant. During the past several years he played bass guitar for the Quasi Modo Band which was his main enjoyment in life.
Survivors include his mother, Sharon Grant of Parsons; his grandparents/parents, James and Reola Lansdowne of Parsons; two brothers, Jimmy Lansdowne of Charlotte N.C. and Tony Grant of Parsons; two sisters, Lori Lansdowne of Parsons and Tina Grant of Fort Riley; and a nephew.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Burris Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Howard officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
