TORRINGTON >> Susan M. Janssen, 105, of Mountain Road, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, in her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew C. Janssen. Mrs. Janssen was born in Torrington on Nov. 7, 1907, daughter of the late John and Mary (Mlynar) Mierka and was a lifelong Torrington resident.
She was a retired inspector with the Torrington Company and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include two nieces; Helen Casalino and her husband, Larry, of Simsbury and Lillian Becchia of Torrington, a nephew; Emil Mierka of Canada and a great-nephew; Guy Casalino and his wife, Francine, of West Simsbury. Mrs. Janssen was predeceased by her sister, Helen Kelley, who died on Jan. 3, 2013.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m., at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect Street, Torrington. Burial will be held in Newfield Cemetery in the spring. Friends may call Saturday afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m.
