Violet Vivian Sargent Roots, 91, of Mar-Tiff Lane, Lenoir, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the residence of her daughter Rosalie.
She was born August 30, 1915 in a covered wagon in Pocahontas, Arkansas to the late John Earl Sargent and Gertrude Briesacher Sargent.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Laverne John Roots; a son, Robert L. Roots, brothers, Pearl and Parker Sargent.
Survivors include a son, Jack Roots and his wife Otelia of Lenoir; three daughters, Rosalie Suddreth and husband Tommy of Lenoir, Katherine Staton and husband Ted of Lenoir and Judy R. Rogers and husband Ronnie of Lenoir; a sister, Pansy Gillie of Ohio. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 18, 2007 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at Pendry's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 19th at 2:00 p.m. in Pendry's Chapel with Reverend Ronnie Rogers. Burial will follow at King's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be James David Ragsdale Jr., Brian Rogers, J.T. Woods, Eric Wydra, Mark Widener and Aaron Roots. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark A. Widener, Michael Joseph Stofko, Joel Davis, Alex Snyder, Michael Roots and C. D. Ragsdale.
