Mr. Ronald R. Messner, 71, of Thurmont, passed away on Jan. 11, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Frederick.Born Sept. 10, 1941 in Thurmont, he was the son of Frances Messner of Thurmont and the late Ralph Messner. Ronald enlisted in the U.S. Army prior to his 18th birthday and served as a Combat Engineer while stationed in Germany. After his military service, he worked as a truck driver for the rest of his career.He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Messner. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three children, Brenda Woodby, Monica Messner & s.o. Rusty, and Bryan Messner & girlfriend Kasey; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a sister, Beverly Sutton & husband Buzz; brother, David Messner & wife Sandy; a sister-in-law, Marie "Buttons" Messner; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 15th at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S Route 15 N in Frederick. The Rev. Howard Ruley, Senior Pastor of Parkway Community Church, will officiate. Floral tributes are welcome, or donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association , 2002 Clipper Park Road, Suite 110, Baltimore, Maryland 21211 or www.diabetes.org. Arrangements are with Resthaven Funeral Services, Skkot Cody P.A. in Frederick.
