WELLSVILLE - Joan M. Delaney, formerly of Olean and Bolivar, passed away peacefully Sunday (Aug. 12, 2012) in the comfort and care of the blessed staff at the Wellsville Manor Care Center in Wellsville after a short illness.
Born Nov. 13, 1927, in Olean, she was a daughter of James G. and Kathleen Smith Delaney.
Miss Delaney was a graduate of Bolivar Central School and of Westbrook Commercial Academy in Olean. She was employed as a typist for many years at Traveler's Insurance Co. in Philadelphia prior to her retirement.
She formerly attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Olean and enjoyed the quiet company of friends and animals, especially her dog.
Surviving are three nieces, Gloria (Jan) Sluyter of Bolivar, Karen (Vincent) Strief of Madison, Wis., and Joyce (Walter) Rouba of Trenton, N.J.; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff for the comfort offered to their aunt during her stay in her final days.
She was predeceased by a twin sister, Jean M. Field, in 1996.
Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
