James Lewis Fletcher was born on August 22, 1923 in Smith County, Tennessee, the son of John Louis Fletcher (1892–1964) and Mary Gertrude (Ditty) Fletcher (1900–1972).

James was a US Air Force veteran and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He was married on April 20, 1946 to Mary Pauline Huff (1923–1990), the daughter of Andrew Jackson Huff (1898–1987) and Birdie (Petty) Huff (1901–1986).

Living in Chestnut Mound, James was retired from Melrose Electronics and 89 years old and a widower when he passed away on January 11, 2013.

Survivors included a married daughter in Union, Kentucky, a married sister-in-law in Donelson, Tennessee, to married nieces and their families, a married nephew and his family and a grandnephew.

Funeral Services were held at Chestnut Mound United Methodist Church, and burial was in the church's cemetery.
