Hon. Jacob B. Carpenter, brother of R. Platt Carpenter, formerly of Poughkeepsie, died suddenly at his home in Little Rest, on Monday morning, in the 68 year of his age. Mr. Carpenter has always been a prominent man in Dutchess county. He was for two terms Mayor of Poughkeepsie besides twice being a member of Assembly. His family have been great travelers, visiting Europe frequently.
