Vincent C. Ficara, 70, passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at Haven Hospice. Friends are invited to visit from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Ave. West in Cranford, N.J. Mass of Christian Burial is at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Church, Cranford. Born in the Bronx, Vincent was a longtime resident of both Cranford, N.J., and Fire Island, N.Y. A dedicated computer systems analyst for over 40 years, Mr. Ficara met his beloved wife, Denise, at the very start of his career while working at Printronic Corp. He also worked for American Express, and Chase Bank before retiring as a director of EMC in New York City. He was a volunteer firefighter for 40 years and also served as a fire commissioner in Ocean Bay Park, N.Y. A humorous man who enjoyed a good argument, he loved cooking for his family and neighbors and was an avid Trekkie. He is survived by his wife, Denise; by his lifetime hero and son, Vinnie; six sisters, Connie Leonardi, Bea Thomas, Katy Basile, Nina Owens, Marion Rao, and Diane Flood, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ocean Bay Park Fire Department, c/o Rene Bodkin, 2 Grace Ct., Brooklyn, N.Y. 11201.
