Burton S. Palmer passed away on January 13, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 85. He was born on the family farm in Standish, MI to Doris and Herbert Palmer on March 19, 1927. His mother died when Burton was two, and he was reared by his father and maternal grandmother until his father married Helen Colombe five years later. Burton cherished family, and his love for them will always be remembered. Burton retired as a Standard Oil distributor in the Standish area after 26 years of service.He enjoyed fishing, boating and playing cards. Burton is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary (Florance) Palmer; daughter Cathy (Michael) Carr of Eaton Rapids, MI; three granddaughters Christy Avery (Justin Woodward), Jennifer (Spencer) Anderson and Teresa Carr, two great-granddaughters Heidi and Holly Anderson,and brother in law J Richard Florance(Janice)He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, his sister Harriet Barber, his brother Edwin Palmer and his mother in law, Eva Richards Florance.
