Jean Ridley Roark, 77, went to be with her Lord on November 20, 2009 at Mount Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, VT.

She was born on November 11, 1932 in Springvale, Maine, the daughter of Allen W. and Mildred E. (Ham) Ridley and had lived in the Connecticut River Valley for over the last forty years.

Jean graduated from Sanford High School, Sanford Maine in 1951. She attended Barrington College, Barrington, Rhode Island for three years.

Jean entered Shepherd Gill School of Nursing, Boston, MA and received her LPN in 1957.

Jean married Ardon C. "Stony" Roark on March 16, 1957. They served as missionaries under the United Indian Missions to the Native Americans in the southwest United States. They also served pastorates in Baptist Churches in East Wilton, Maine, Contoocook and Lebanon, New Hampshire. She was active teaching in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and in youth groups.

She worked at Dessie Scott Children's Home in Pine Ridge, Kentucky for two years as a children's worker and at Timken Aerospace in Lebanon, NH for nearly 20 years, retiring in 1993. More recently she worked for K-Mart in West Lebanon and Claremont, and as a personal care worker in Sanford, Maine and Claremont, NH. Jean helped her community as a ballot clerk in Claremont elections.

Jean was a loving, caring person, full of life. She is greatly missed by family and friends, for whom she loved to bake and cook meals. She loved swimming and taking walks.

The family includes her husband of 52 years, Ardon C. Roark of Claremont; two sons, David Roark and his wife Janette of Claremont and Ryan Roark and his wife Roberta of Blackstone, MA; one daughter, Cheryl Irrizary of Lebanon, NH; two grandsons, David Irrizary and Esteban "Stevie" Irrizary; her twin sister, Joyce Ridley Sawyer of Brooksville, FL; two brothers, Ralph G. Ridley of Shapleigh, Maine and his wife Emily Jean and Glen A. Ridley of Springvale, Maine and his wife Marilyn.

She was predeceased by two sisters; Roberta Ridley Blanchard in June of 2002 and Frances Ridley Baertschi Moodie.

Graveside committal services will be held November 24, 2009 in the Riverside Cemetery in Springvale, Maine.
