Jack Agan December 11, 1934 - January 11, 2013 Jack was born in Ash Grove, Missouri, to Ralph and Hazel Agan and passed away at home at the age of 78. He came to Bakersfield as a young boy and graduated from Bakersfield High School. He then went on to graduate from UC Berkeley and began a lengthy career with Gulf Oil as a Petroleum Engineer and Operations Manager, and continued on with Chevron. His work carried him to various places in the U.S. and overseas, including Nigeria, Angola, and Bahrain. After his retirement, he returned to live in Bakersfield, where he enjoyed his grandchildren, watching the stock market, the computer, and reading. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Ellen, as well as his daughters and their spouses, Marian and James Howard, Stephanie and Jerry Bednarski, and his son, John Agan. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Gail Dreher. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stephen and David Howard, Zachary, Joshua, and Aaron Dreher, and Michael, Brian, and Kathryn Bednarski. Jack will also be greatly missed by his 97 year old mother, Hazel Garrett. Other survivors include his sister, Elaine Taylor, and his brother and wife, Jerry and Cookie Agan, and many nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held at Union Cemetery on Wednesday, January 16th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to Optimal Hospice, St. Francis Church, or a charity of your choice.
