James David New was born on January 10, 1916 in Indianapolis, Indiana on North College Avenue. He was the son of James Allen New and Wanda Estelle Hutchens New. He had one sister, Katherine New Beck Dwiggins. Jim graduated from Sheridan, Indiana high school. In May of 1937, he married Mary Elizabeth Bower. They had two children - David Allen New and Judith Ann New Griffin. Jim and Mary lived first in Boone Co, Indiana, then moved to Tipton, Indiana, then to Noblesville, Indiana. Jim enlisted in the Army when World War II came. He served in northern Iran and was gone over three years. When he returned, they moved to Noblesville and Jim worked at Allisons as an Air Force Plant Rep. Later, he and Mary built a home in Marion Township, Boone Co, Indiana. When he retired, they moved to Bradenton, Florida - many good friends were found there. Jim lived with the Griffin's in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee the last three years of his life. Jim was a member of First Christian Church, Sheridan, Indiana and many around Sheridan remember Jim. He is remembered also as a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jim always a devilish twinkle in his eye.
