Harold Boyd Bateman, 81, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was retired from the maintenance department at Tupperware, attended Volunteer Baptist Church and was a retired Captain of the Tennessee Army National Guard, where he served for 21 years.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorials Gardens.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Thursday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Wright Bateman of Dyersburg; two daughters, Mitzi Bateman Mitchem and Melissa Bateman Rogers and husband, Tracy, all of Dyersburg; a sister, Dorothy Bateman Wickstrom of Hermantown, MN; two brothers, Loyd Bateman and wife, Sharon, and Wayne Bateman all of Dyersburg; and four grandchildren, Cody Simmons, Brandon Rogers, Scotty Rogers and Johnny Rogers, all of Dyersburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vennie and Julia King Bateman; and two sisters, Charlotte Ann Bateman Smith and Gertrude Bateman Barnett.

Pallbearers will be Cody Simmons, Scotty Rogers, Brandon Rogers, Tracy Rogers, Morgan Bateman and Johnny Rogers.
