A former resident of Marshalls Creek, she was born in Kenmore, N.Y., to the late Herman and Ruby (Crocock) Seifried. After attending the University of Buffalo and receiving her registered nursing license, she moved to New York City. It was there that she met and married her husband, Tom Berrian. They were residents of Westchester County, N.Y., and Wayne, N.J., where they raised six children. In 1992 they retired to the Country Club of the Poconos.
She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Stroudsburg.
Mrs. Berrian was predeceased by a sister, Donna, and two brothers, Russell and Robert, all formerly of Kenmore, N.Y. She was also predeceased by a sister, Janet (Seifried) Easterbrooks formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kathryn (Seifried) Schmitt formerly of Kenmore, N.Y.
Doris is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Tom Berrian; daughter Diane Berrian Viola of Macau, China, and Hatfield; son Thomas R. Berrian and daughter-in-law Dr. Sarah Vodraska Berrian of Danville, Vt.; son Richard Berrian of Stanhope, N.J.; daughter Jane DeKnight of West Milford, N.J.; daughter Nancy Berrian-Dixon and son-in-law David Dixon of Bethlehem Township, N.J.; son George Berrian and daughter-in-law Barbara Lapic Berrian of Warwick, N.Y., and her ten grandchildren: Tom and Geoffrey Viola, Andrew and Rowan Berrian, Matthew Berrian, Deirdre and Jenna DeKnight, James and Laura Dixon, and Marielle Berrian.
There will be a viewing from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church, 818 Main St., Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Thomas D. McLaughlin as celebrant. Burial will follow in Stroudsburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for those interested to make a donation in Doris' name to a charity of their own choosing.
