English Writer and Feminist. Victoria Mary Sackville-West (her full name) was the only child of Lionel Edward, third Baron of Sackville, and Victoria Sackville-West, his first cousin and the illegitimate daughter of the diplomat Sir Lionel Sackville-West. In 1913 she married the diplomat and critic Harold Nicolson. The marriage endured despite their homosexual affairs and they had two children. In 1923, she met Virginia Woolf, and the two became lovers and she become the model for Orlando in Virginia Woolf's novel of that same title from 1928. But her life long companion was Violet Trefusis. Among her books "All Passion Spent," "Chatterton," "Challenge," "The Edwardians," "Family History" and "Pepita." She also create garden at Sissinghurst Castle, and wrote many books about gardening. She was cremated.
