Det. Kyle Maurice Jones, 41, of Oak Island, NC died Monday, January 14, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Jones was born May 21, 1971 in Horry County, SC to Barbara Skipper Jones and the late Jerry W. Jones. He graduated from West Brunswick High School in 1989 where he was all conference in baseball and basketball. He then graduated from Southeastern Community College, and began his Law Enforcement career with the Whiteville Police Department and then the Columbus County Sheriff's Department a Sgt. in the Narcotics Division. Mr. Jones then relocated to the Bald Head Police Department, and then the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office as well as the Shallotte Police Department as a Detective. He was a member of the Southport Masonic Lodge and the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office Quartet. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Nascar fan, especially Richard Petty and Kyle Petty, whom he was named after. He loved the beach, and was a family man who loved to sing, camp and cook. He lived by his word to do what he thought was right which included being co-chair for setting up the event for his co-worker Tony Caison, coaching football with his brother at Shallotte Middle School and coaching A.A.U. baseball.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Lisa Pridgen Jones; daughter Chloe Reyde Jones; his mother-in-law Shirley Pridgen of Fair Bluff, NC, and all of his special Pridgen Family ;brother Mark Jones, wife Amy, and son Chase, of Shallotte, NC; grandmother Allene R. Jones of Myrtle Beach, SC; four aunts Dianne Skipper, of Conway, SC, Shirley Tarte, husband Earl, of San Antonio, TX, Sara Stroud, of Conway, SC, and Vivian Quick, husband Kerry, of Conway, SC; one uncle Rusty Jones, wife Missy, of Murrells Inlet, SC; and all of his Law Enforcement Family.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the Odell Williamson Auditorium, Bolivia, NC by Pastor Brad Ferguson. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 18, 2013 from 6-8 PM in the New Beginnings Community Church, Shallotte, NC.
Active casketbearers will be Adam Stanley, Woody Dunn, Keith Smith, Jason Meggs, David Ellen, Mike Alderson, and Jim Barr.
Honorary casketbearers will be Rodney Gause, Lynn Gause, Thomas Inman, Alan Inman, Tony Watson, Rick McKeithan, Darren McKeithan, Timmy Farmer, and Shane Hardee.
