Frank Garland Bays was the fourth child of Marvin Henry Bays and Mamie LeEtta Atwood. He attended Oswego High School graduating in 1942. During WWII he enlisted in the Army and served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations from Jan 1945-Jul 1946.

While returning to Oswego KS from visiting his brother Everett in Kansas City, Frank's automobile was struck head-on by a truck on Highway 69 south of Drexal, MO. It was a horrific accident scene. Authorities speculated the driver of the truck had fallen asleep at the wheel. Frank was rushed to a Kansas City hospital by ambulance where he expired. He was aged 24 years, 10 months, 28 days.

Six year old Philip Bays had begged to travel to Oswego that evening along with Uncle Frank. Opal said absolutely NO! and avoided a double family tragedy. Everett spent his 32nd birthday (10-22-1949) in the hospital at Frank's side.

Frank never married and had no children.

On a personal note; Frank has an uncanny if not remarkable resemblance to Brent Stuart Bays (b: 1/22/1969), son of Philip Bays and grand nephew of Frank G. Bays.
