CURWENSVILLE - Private funeral services will be held from the Rrssell H. Lininger Funeral Home here at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow for Samuel P. Bressler, retired Curwensville businessman who died in his home Wednesday night. He was 81.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Charles Hess with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call in the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and until the hour of services tomorrow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends donate to a favorite charity.
A prominent Curwensville businessman for more that 60 years, Mr. Bressler taught school for a time in Clearfield County and from 1914 until retirement several years ago was associated with the insurance business. He was formerly president of the Carpenter Mutual Insurance Co. and former partner in the Rorabaugh Insurance Agency, Curwinsville.
He was a lifelong member of the Curwensville United Methodist Church and held many offices in the church. He had served as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the official board for many years.
He was a past borough councilman, past president of the Curwensville Rotary Club and the Curwensville Building and Loan Association, and had served on the advisory board of the Slavation Army.
He was a 50-year member of the I.O.O.F. in Curwensville and held membership in the Rescue Hose & Ladder Co.
On July 1, 1912, in Lumber City, he married the former Ida Smith. She preceded him in death in 1964. A son and grandson are also deceased.
Mr. Bressler was born in Curwensville Sept. 22, 1890, a son of H. O. and Suzanna (McCracken) Bressler.
These children survive: Mrs. Edward (Mirian) Croft, Philipsburg; Mrs. Philip (Alta) Robinson, Clearfield; Mrs. Lewis (Inez) Bruneui, Curwensville; Mrs. Fernand (Grace) Maloni, Dallas, Pa,, and Donald E. Bressler, Akron, Ohio. Six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter also survive.
